PROFILE

Currently the CEO of BMI Systems a software development company that focuses on products geared to social service program delivery, formerly ,Executive Director of National Gang Network (NGN) Associates, a consulting, training and technical assistance firm.. I have catalogued more than 25 years of practical programmatic experience in the areas of Juvenile Delinquency, Youth Development and Human Services. Program administration and management for over 20 years with extensive experience in program development, systems implementation and various levels of direct service delivery creating successful nationally recognized programs.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Planning and Program Development

Served on National Committee to address gang violence in American Cities, one of five members.

Managed implementation of 33 contracted programs under the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Responsible for quarterly reporting, data collection, site visits, technical assistance and training.

Developed and managed training curriculum on gangs with five regional workshops and the National Youth Gang Symposium in Atlanta, GA - 1991.

Training and Consulting

Conducted training and technical assistance for agencies in more than 100 cities nationwide.

Facilitated task force meetings in Texas, Iowa, Mass, and New York.

Outside organizations: NAACP, BOECS, Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Training associate for the National Crime Prevention Council, Washington, D.C., Partnership for Drug-Free America, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, National Institute of Justice, Article for the National Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and the National Council of State Government.

Personnel Management and Supervision

Hired, supervised and trained staff (from 4 to 300).

Multi program coordination and supervision.

Effectively managed program staff by commanding pride and teamwork in performance; supporting and encouraging individual career development and staff training in problem and teamwork.

Budget and Resource Management

Developed and managed $800,000-$21,000,000 budgets for several non–profit organizations, including Boys & Girls Club in Boston and Iowa. Raised over $500,000 in special events fundraising, proposals and grants. Secured in-kind support for major companies such as Reebok, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, several foundations, as well as, individual donors with the Boston Shootout 1987-90.

Wrote proposal and was awarded a $844,660 grant from Federal government. Managed and secured funding.

Public Relations/Media

Secured national recognition from Department of Justice for Prevention/Intervention Project,

"Exemplary Program Award 1992."

Initiated over 30 articles and success stories on the Boys & Girls Club Programs across the country.

Boston - Appeared on "City Beat," "Chronicle," and numerous newscasts on all prime local networks.

New York - Appeared on "McCreary Report," "Sonya Live," CNN News: Special Report: "Hispanic Horizons"; NBC Special: "Images & Realities-African-American Men"; NBC Special Report:

"Politics in the Black Community".

Iowa – "Good Morning Show" and "Channel 5 Newsmakers Program".

 Facility Management and Design

Assisted in the design and renovation of various teen and community centers: Ringe Shelter in Cambridge, MA; Longfellow School,; East Cambridge Teen Center, and Hoyt Field Community Center, Cambridge, MA.

Renovations to the Roxbury Boys & Girls Club facility, media room and weight-training room.

Secured funding for equipment & resources and the development of the silk screen room, which later became Club House Enterprises, creating business opportunities to raise funding for Boys Club programs.

Halifax Shelter Care Facility, 14 buildings including rooming facilities, school, and dining hall.

Community Relations

Hosted two Community meeting with Vice President Al Gore -1999

Hosted Community dedication with General Colin Powell and America’s Promise Program-1999

Established the first community collaborative between agencies: YMCA, Roxbury Comprehensive Health Center, Roxbury Multi-service center, Boston Housing Authority, Community Schools and local churches.

established and was Chairman of Roxbury Against Drugs.

Former Chairman of The Community Concert Series with the Boston Pops in conjunction with the Honorable Judge Julian Houston, Roxbury Juvenile Court and the Boston Symphony.

Developed affordable access for inner-city communities to special events (i.e. Boston Garden events; Disney on Ice, Ringling Bros. Circus, Sesame Street on Ice and The Boston Shoot-Out.

Expanded Boys & Girls Club service to remote facility within Public Housing Development, thus creating the Mobile Club concept servicing neighboring communities

Assisted in securing the New home of BGCB Franklin Field Facility.
